Running across a potential match on HER is always an exciting moment. Maybe one of our pride pins on their profile caught your eye, or a funny line in their bio, perhaps a quick-witted answer to a question that made you swoon. No matter the cause, you can now share how you feel when you send a like using HER’s new comment feature.

Sending a comment to someone allows you to stand out from the crowd by highlighting something you liked about them in their profile. Our research shows that users who send comments to matches have a higher chance of matching and engaging in meaningful conversations. Nerdy stuff aside, It's also a thoughtful way to show someone you're interested in them

How to Send a Comment

To send a comment to a potential match, locate the element of their profile you'd like to comment on. Anything you can reply to will have an arrow and a prompt to "Comment on this". Enter your message (keep in mind your character limit is up to 300 characters max) and select the purple "up" arrow to send your message. Keep in mind that this is just the same as sending a like so be sure to only send comments to profiles you're interested in potentially matching with.

How to Receive a Comment

When you receive a comment from a potential match, you’ll receive a notification from us alerting you to the new message. Once inside the app, you will also see a red notification indicator on the bell icon on the lower righthand side of your screen. Selecting the bell icon will bring you to your notifications section. From the notifications section, you can view the most recently received comment by selecting your ‘Likes’ tab.

If you’re interested in returning a message you can select the heart icon to message your match back. By selecting ‘X’, the comment and its sender will be removed from your list of likes.

What is a comment?

• A comment is a way to send a message over to your potential match with your initial like. You can do this by finding profile elements that allow you to send your message.

How will I know if I have a comment?

• You will receive a push notification from us alerting you to your new comment and can view your most recently received message from the notifications tab/bell icon in your app’s navigation bar located at the bottom of your screen.

Why can’t I send a comment on a person’s profile picture?

• At this time the ability to send a comment in response to a profile picture is not available.

I made a typo. Can I edit my comment?

• Once a comment has been sent you are not able to edit or change the content of the message.

I changed my mind and don’t want the recipient to see my comment, can I delete it? Undo it?

• After you send a comment to another user there is not a way to unsend or delete the message or undo your like.

I don’t see the ability to send a comment.

• At this time, the comments feature is only available for users on applicable iOS devices but will be available on all accepted operating systems and devices in the near future.

Can I read the comment I received without liking someone back?

• Yes! You can view your most recently received comment from the notifications tab/bell icon in your app’s navigation bar located at the bottom of your screen. From here you can either select X to remove the comment and sender from your likes or select the ❤️ to match and send your reply.

I received a comment that made me uncomfortable. What should I do?

• Please report any unsafe or inappropriate content or behavior that violates our Terms of Service by scrolling to the bottom of the profile shown in your likes and selecting ‘Report’ from the options listed below. Select the appropriate reason and our Trust & Safety team will be alerted to review the profile and message content. To remove the profile completely, please select ‘Block’.

The comment I received disappeared! What do I do?

• There are many reasons a comment can disappear. Up to and including matches deleting their account or having their account put on hold for violating our Terms of Service.

Do I need Premium to send or receive a comment?

• Sending and receiving comments is a completely free feature and is available to all iOS users at this time. However, Gold and Platinum subscribers can send unlimited likes + comments while free users will have a daily limit.

Can I still send a comment if I’m in Incognito Mode?

• Yes, comments and likes can both still be sent while in Incognito Mode. Keep in mind, if you are in Incognito mode you are not visible to other users and will not be able to be seen, receive comments, or likes until Incognito Mode is turned off.

Is there a limit to how many comments I can send/receive?

• There is no limit to the amount of comments you send or receive unless you are using the Free version of HER that does have daily like limits. (Note: there is a 300-character text limit on any comment that you send.)
