While we do all we can to prevent this from occurring, we want you to have the resources to navigate this online space safely. If at any point you feel unsafe, or uncomfortable or you believe that the person you are talking with is in any way suspicious, please do the following: Scroll to the bottom of their profile and select “Report Profile”. Don’t forget to add the reason why you are reporting them. If using 'Other', please be as detailed as possible. If it is a more serious issue and you feel in danger, please contact local authorities immediately. We are always happy to assist local law enforcement with their investigation if needed. Please have them reach out to us at support@weareher.com and we can help out with next steps including providing user information. Scammers 101: Spending time on dating or social apps often means coming into contact with scammers. Scammers (also known as “catfish”) are people who hide their true identity and intentions with the goal of getting their victims (other users) to send them money, gifts, nude photos, etc. Although we at HER try our best to identify and suspend scammers as quickly as possible, the problem is a difficult one to solve perfectly. This guide will help you to identify any scammers you might encounter on HER and take appropriate action to protect yourself, keep the community safe and scammer free. What you need to know Scammers are typically: Looking for victims to send them money or gifts Some are straight men looking for contact with women and/or nudes. While this does not occur often, it is something to be aware of A scammer's goal is to win your trust in order to trick you into doing something you usually wouldn’t do Signs to be aware of: Asking for money Sending or asking you for nude pics early on in their interaction with you Being overly affectionate or sexual right away Asking you to download another app to chat (this is a common ploy to avoid detection by the HER team) Telling you they are overseas, deployed in the military, or otherwise giving an excuse for why they would be unable to meet you Not speaking their native language fluently, or saying only very generic things in chat Being unwilling to use photo/video chat apps such as Facetime, Snapchat, etc. How do I respond? If you suspect someone of being a scammer (or they just make you feel uncomfortable), simply stop responding to them If you are confident that a user is a scammer, you can report their profile by tapping the “^” arrow on their profile, scrolling to the bottom, and choosing “Report” from profile view. You can also share a link to their profile to support@weareher.com for the team to review and remove Most people on HER are looking for new friends or to meet potential partners. Be wary of people who are asking you for things outside of your comfort zone or don’t seem to respect your desires Be cautious of users whose photos appear Photoshopped, overly professional, or possibly scraped off the internet Don’t share sexually explicit images with people just because they ask. As with anything, trust is key
